Automatic declaration, a big innovation for 2020
For the first time this year, the traditional income tax return is optional for nearly 12 million taxpayers, or two thirds of users.

As the taxes website indicates , this automatic declaration is offered to tax households that were taxed last year only on income pre-filled by the administration and who have not reported any change in situation .

Basically, taxpayers whose situation has not changed compared to the previous year (address, marital status or creation of a deposit at source) and who see all of their income already recorded on their pre-filled declaration have nothing to do, nothing to validate and nothing to return. They will only have to check that their declaration is correct and exhaustive.

On the other hand, if certain elements must be completed or modified, you will then have to complete and sign your tax return as usual. To do this, go to your particular space .

Warning: to be sure of being eligible for automatic declaration, make sure you have received a specific communication from the end of March by email or by post on this subject.

When to do it?
If you do not benefit from the automatic declaration, it is impossible to bypass the usual tax declaration.

Like every year, the deadline for filing your tax return depends on the filing method chosen and where you live.

Please note, as the tax site indicates, unless you do not have an internet connection or if you feel that you are unable to do so, you must declare online . The simple fact of sending the declaration in paper version constitutes a commitment on the honor of not being able to do it online.

Thus, for those who are unable to make their declaration online, paper declarations are received from April 20 until mid-May (depending on the postal service). The deadline is Friday, June 12 at 11.59 p.m., regardless of the place of residence .

For online declarations, the deadlines vary depending on the number of the taxpayer's department of residence: until Thursday June 4 11:59 p.m. for departments 01 to 19 and for non-residents, until Monday June 8, 11.59 p.m. for departments from 20 to 54 (zone 2) and until Thursday 11 June 11.59 p.m. for departments from 55 to 974/976 (zone 3).
