Head of Wuhan Institute of Virology: Coronavirus could not be created artificially

The head of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Yuan Jimin, says there is no evidence to suggest that the COVID-19 coronavirus was artificially created.

To put it bluntly: "From my personal understanding of virology, there is no evidence that the virus has artificial or synthetic traces. In addition, some scientists believe that the synthesis of the virus requires exceptional mental capacity and continued work. So I would not believe that we humanity already capable of synthesizing such a virus. "

Details: Jimin denies that the virus could have left his institute. According to him, the institute adheres to strict regulations on the handling of viruses and samples - and this is one of the reasons that none of the employees were infected.

The head of the institute noted that the team remained working, even when the border blockade in China was announced.

Jimin added that now the entire institute is conducting research in various areas related to coronavirus. There are teams for drug development, vaccine research, pathogenesis, there are groups that seek answers to basic questions, including the origin of the virus and general characteristics of the virus.

He explains the rumors about the virus leaking out of the institute by saying that the institute and the laboratory are in Wuhan, where the first coronavirus outbreak was, so it is understandable that people have such associations.

The head of the Wuhan Institute of Virology also believes that some politicians and the media are deliberately trying to mislead people, although they have no evidence or knowledge, but only assumptions.
