Nine people sustained injuries in a fire which broke out after a cooking gas cylinder exploded at a chawl in Mumbai's suburban Kandivali on Wednesday. The cylinder exploded when members of a family were trying to change it in their house. The explosion triggered a minor fire in which the family members and some neighbours suffered burns, an official said.

India, which restricted refined palm oil and palmolein imports, has reportedly exempted Nepal and issued licences to import some refined palmolein from it. Imports from Nepal were allowed at zero duty under a regional treaty. India's refined palm oil and palmolein imports from Nepal in 2019 jumped 1,260% to 2,10,033 tonnes. Nepal imports crude palm oil from Indonesia and Malaysia.

Yes Bank's former independent director Uttam Prakash Agarwal alleged in a letter that the lender witnessed gross withdrawals of ₹1.02 lakh crore since March 1, 2019. Scientists have managed to get two quantum memories entangled over 50 kilometres of fibre optic cables, almost 40 times the previous record. In the experiment, the two storage units for quantum memory were rubidium atoms cooled down to a low energy state.
