Pak exporter of terror, ironical it lectures others on human rights: India

Pakistan is the "world's leading exporter of terror" and it's "ironical" that it lectures others about human rights issues, Vikas Swarup, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, said at UNHRC in Geneva. Swarup was responding to Pakistan Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari's allegations about rights abuses in Kashmir. J&K shall forever remain "an integral part of India", Swarup added.

US President Donald Trump said that he planned to visit India after the US presidential election scheduled for November, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi "didn't like the idea". Exercise caution: US issues advisory for its citizens after Delhi riots

The US Embassy in India has issued an advisory for American citizens in India to "exercise caution" in the light of riots in northeast Delhi and avoid all areas with demonstrations. The Embassy has also asked them to follow instructions of local authorities, monitor media updates and avoid areas where there are road closures, protests and possible curfews.

6-yr-old girl arrested by US police from school for kicking, punching staff

A 6-year-old girl was arrested by a Florida police officer in the US for kicking and punching staff members at her Orlando charter school. In a video released by the family of the girl on Monday, a policeman is seen fastening zip ties around her wrists as she says, "Help me, please...I don't want to go in a police car."

Indians from Japan ship board Air India flight to return to Delhi

Indian passengers and crew, who were on board the coronavirus-hit Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined off the coast of Japan, have boarded the Air India flight to return to Delhi. A total of 138 Indians were on the ship, of which 16 tested positive for coronavirus, the Indian Embassy said. Upon arrival, they will undergo a 14-day quarantine.

US' San Francisco declares emergency over coronavirus

In the US, San Francisco has declared a local emergency over the coronavirus despite having no confirmed cases of the virus. "Although there are still zero confirmed cases...the global picture is changing rapidly, and we need to step-up preparedness," Mayor London Breed said in a statement. The 14 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US have been mostly travel related.

US soldier infected with coronavirus in S Korea, total cases at 1,261

A US soldier based in Camp Carroll, South Korea has tested positive for the new coronavirus, the United States Forces Korea (USFK) said. The soldier is in self-quarantine at his home outside the base, USFK added in a statement. South Korea reported 284 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 1,261 in the country.

China reports 52 more coronavirus deaths, lowest in over 3 weeks

China reported 52 more coronavirus deaths, the lowest in over three weeks, and confirmed 406 new virus cases in the country. Only five new virus cases were confirmed outside China's Hubei province, the epicentre of the virus outbreak. The virus has killed over 2,700 people and infected around 78,000 others in China.

France reported the first death of a French national from coronavirus. The spread of the virus increased globally while decreasing in China.

Coronavirus carrier faces jail in Singapore for lying over movements

Singapore authorities charged a Chinese man and his wife for lying about their movements while the man was infected with the new coronavirus. The man, who has since recovered from the illness, and his wife face up to six months in jail if convicted. The authorities were investigating if the couple had passed the illness to others.

Former President Pranab Mukherjee will be invited for a special session of Bangladesh's Parliament on March 22 and 23, a Bangladeshi presidential palace spokesman said. The special session is being organised as part of Bangladesh founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary celebration. Nepal's President Bidya Devi Bhandari will also be invited for the special session, the spokesman added.

German court removes ban on professionally assisted suicide

A German court termed a law banning professionally assisted suicide in the country unconstitutional and overturned it. Judge Andreas Vosskuhle said, "The right to a self-determined death [included] the freedom to take one's life and seek help doing so." The law was introduced in 2015 but it was challenged by terminally ill patients, doctors and assisted suicide organisations.

Former Pakistan PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was granted bail in an alleged corruption case on Tuesday by the Islamabad High Court (IHC). Members of the Scottish Parliament voted unanimously to support a new bill which will make menstrual products free in the country. The bill, which will cost over ₹200 crore annually to make products like sanitary pads and tampons free at community centres and pharmacies, will now go to the committee stage where it can be amended.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that Turkey will push Syrian government forces away from Turkish posts in Syria's Idlib province this week. Syrian government, backed by Russia, wants to capture Idlib, which is the last remaining rebel stronghold in Syria. Turkey backs the Syrian rebels in the province and has lost 16 soldiers while defending it.
