Delhi govt to give ₹1 cr compensation to family of policeman killed in riots

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that his government will give ₹1 crore compensation to the family of Head Constable Ratan Lal who was killed in the riots in northeast Delhi. The AAP government will provide a job to a member of his family, Kejriwal added. At least 23 people have died in the clashes.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday postponed the board exam of Class 12 scheduled for Thursday at 73 centres in Northeast Delhi and 7 in East Delhi. 106 people arrested, 18 FIRs filed over riots in Delhi

The Delhi Police has arrested 106 people and registered 18 FIRs in connection with the riots in northeast Delhi. No untoward incidents were reported from the area on Wednesday, an official said, adding that CCTV footage has been gathered from affected areas. Clashes broke out between pro and anti-CAA protesters in northeast Delhi and 24 people have died since Sunday.

Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan, his son Abdullah Azam and wife Tazeen Fatima were sent to judicial custody till March 2 by a local court in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur, officials told PTI. Abdullah was accused of producing a fake birth certificate during UP Assembly polls in 2017. After the matter was taken to court, Abdullah had lost his Assembly membership.

The government has lifted the ban on onion exports as prices of the vegetable have stabilised on expectations of a bumper crop, Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Wednesday. 19-yr-old raped by 3 men in separate incidents in 2 hours; all accused held

A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by three men in two separate incidents within two hours on February 19 in Navi Mumbai, police said on Wednesday. The woman had asked an auto-rickshaw driver to drop her at a railway station, the driver, however, raped her. She then sought help from two men, who also raped her. The accused were arrested.

Auto driver killed for asking ₹5 back from gas station staff in Mumbai

Police have arrested five gas station employees for allegedly killing a 68-year-old auto-rickshaw driver in Mumbai's Borivali. The auto driver handed a ₹500 note to a gas station attendant after getting CNG for ₹205, but instead of getting ₹295 back, he got ₹290. When he demanded ₹5 more, he was allegedly abused and thrashed which led to his death.

Exercise caution: US issues advisory for its citizens after Delhi riots

The US Embassy in India has issued an advisory for American citizens in India to "exercise caution" in the light of riots in northeast Delhi and avoid all areas with demonstrations. The Embassy has also asked them to follow instructions of local authorities, monitor media updates and avoid areas where there are road closures, protests and possible curfews.

A Kerala man has been arrested by Muvattupuzha Police for sexually assaulting a 24-year-old employee multiple times. The man is also accused of having asked the woman to convert her religion in order to marry her. Indians from Japan ship board Air India flight to return to Delhi

Indian passengers and crew, who were on board the coronavirus-hit Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined off the coast of Japan, have boarded the Air India flight to return to Delhi.
