Paytm employee who returned from Italy tests positive for coronavirus

Paytm on Wednesday decided to shut its offices for a couple of days for sanitising purposes after one of its employees in Gurugram, who had recently travelled to Italy, was tested positive with coronavirus. Paytm has suggested the patient's team members to get health tests done immediately. Including this case, India now has 29 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Eleven Indian engineers have requested the Indian government to rescue them from Iran, saying that "we are living in a scary situation", as the country reported over 2,300 coronavirus cases. Karnataka private school body directs schools to check for coronavirus

Associated Management of Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka has issued an advisory for its member schools across the state about coronavirus outbreak. The association advised school managements to provide isolation for students if they suddenly fall sick and alert their parents. It also advised school authorities to take hygienic measures and to teach about maintaining hygiene to students.

Suspected coronavirus patient runs away from hospital in Punjab

A Moga native who returned from Dubai on Tuesday ran away from a local hospital he visited for tests after doctors suspected him of having the coronavirus. The man had complained of cough and visited the civil hospital in Moga to get a check-up done as a precautionary measure. He ran away after being referred to the isolation ward.

17 Indians have been infected with coronavirus abroad: Govt

As many as 17 Indians have been infected with coronavirus abroad, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. Out of the 17 cases, 16 are from Japan on the Diamond Cruise and one from the UAE. Further, 119 Indians have been brought back to India from the cruise ship in Japan and 723 Indian nationals were evacuated from China.

Delhi Police Special Cell saw it on Fajja's Facebook profile and visited several Starbucks outlets. They found it was taken in Gurugram and nabbed them after receiving a tip-off.

Social media ban lifted in J&K after 7 months, internet speed limited to 2G

Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday removed restrictions from social media usage after nearly seven months. The order stated that internet access shall be available across the Union Territory with speed restricted to 2G and "these services shall not be made available on pre-paid sim cards". For fixed-line internet, connectivity shall continue to be made available "with mac-binding".

Haryana amends law, makes sex with minor wife rape under POCSO Act

Haryana Assembly on Tuesday passed The Prohibition of Child Marriage (Haryana Amendment Bill, 2020). It was tabled by Women and Child Development Minister Kamlesh Dhanda. Accordingly, any marital relationship between a man and a girl aged between 15 and 18 years shall be void and it will make any sexual intercourse an offence defined as rape under the POCSO Act.

15-yr-old Chennai boy loses vision in 1 eye allegedly after teacher hits him

A 15-year-old boy in Chennai has lost vision in one eye, allegedly after his teacher hit him on the head. His mother said, "He has been complaining of headache and eye pain since that day and has not gone to school...His left eye started reddening and swelling and he started complaining that he is not able to see clearly."

Supreme Court directs Delhi High Court to list riots cases on March 6

All states except Delhi spent less than 1% on judiciary in 2018-19: SC

Money spent by governments on high courts and subordinate courts in their respective states, except Delhi, was less than 1% of their total expenditure for 2018-19, a Supreme Court order revealed. Delhi's expenditure on judiciary accounted for 2.08% of its total expenditure. While UP spent highest on judiciary, ₹1,614 crore, it accounted for only 0.35% of the state's total expenditure.

Delhi schools to identify students who lost books, uniforms in Delhi riots

Schools in North-East Delhi have begun the process of restoring study material and uniforms to students who lost them during the violence and arson last week. The Directorate of Education issued directions to schools to provide study supplies and said if required, students of the region may also sit for their exams out of uniform for this month.
